This new painting went viral!

I've painted this girl before and I love her expression so much that I decided to paint her again. This painting is 40 x 60"/ 100 x 150cm, painted with oil and oil bars on canvas.

Sometimes a painting just flows out of my brush and sometimes I have to work for it, which was the case with this painting. I just kept on painting and painting and painting until finally, she emerged the way I hoped she would. It is a strange process, I'm looking for an effect but I don't know what it is until it's there. Very happy with the end result.

The Facebook post I created about this painting went viral within days, very happy with all the lovely comments and the huge amount of shares! I will be adding a limited edition art print of this painting very soon.

I've painted quite a lot of colorful beach girls in the last few years. If you want to take a look at other beach girls I've painted click here.

This painting is 40 x 60"/ 100 x 150cm, painted with oil and oil bars on canvas.

In this detail, you can see I've used all kinds of stencils in her arms to create an

intricate pattern of shapes and colors.

To give the painting a contemporary feel I wanted to add more abstract elements and decided to use

oil bars in her dress. Painting this is a very intuitive process where I try to follow my gut and go with the flow.
