My Sand Thorne on the Beach

This large painting is full of detail you can never convey on a computer screen. I started this art piece by creating a large collage of all kinds of bits and pieces I had been collecting. I almost never throw anything that I create in my studio away, I had a lot of fun combining all kind of elements to create a new composition. Often larger canvasses are in my studio for quite some time before they are finished. Since I don't think of the end result when I'm creating, it sometimes takes a bit of time to decide on the next step I want to take. One of my followers send me this picture of her child and I instantly knew I wanted to paint her. For me she is the personification of being in the moment and of being content with little.
